TimberTech Deck FAQs
Does TimberTech get hot?
TimberTech’s Advanced PVC decking is engineered for heat resistance, staying up to 30° cooler than competitive composite products. Tht being said, all decking products will get hot in the sun. Additionally, the darker the decking color, the hotter it will feel. For hotter climates, consider choosing a lighter color.
How do you clean TimberTech Decking?
To prepare for cleaning current TimberTech Composite or Advanced PVC Decking collections, you’ll need water for rinsing (hose or power washer), the recommended brush for your decking with an extension handle, and TimberTech DeckCleaner™.
You’ll want to clean in small, manageable areas, rinsing thoroughly before moving on to the next section. Be careful not to get TimberTech DeckCleaner™ on other surfaces, including glass, stainless steel, painted surfaces, plants, and vegetation.
Can you powerwash TimberTech Decking?
You’ll only really need a garden hose, but, if you like, you can use a power washer for rinsing only. If you do choose to use a power washer, use a fan tip nozzle and a maximum pressure of 1,500 psi.
What is TimberTech made of?
TimberTech’s Composite Decking is made using a mix of polymers and organic wood fibers while TimberTech’s PVC Decking is made using a plastic called polyvinyl chloride and doesn’t include any organic materials like wood pulp.

The same erosion that damaged your previous beach steps also takes a toll on your dune. We recommend stabilizing eroded dunes with erosion control measures and planting vegetation before beginning your deck and stair construction.
Custom Decks, Stairs, & Landings
Get easy access down to your beach with completely customizable stairs, decks, and landings—built uniquely for your Lake Michigan property.
Dune Restoration
We help restore dune growth for the security of your property and the success and longevity of your future deck and stair construction.
Erosion Control Blankets
We install erosion control blankets and straw mats on dunes that have no vegetation or any type of foliage. They prevent dune shifting for a stable deck and stair build.
